CV

A CV is the first thing recruiters see. CV’s are the first impression of you as a candidate, ensuring if you will stand out from other candidates.

  • A CV should be no longer than two pages.
  • Include up to date information, especially contact details.
  • Arrange work experience/education in order from the most recent to past.
  • A list of relevant skills is important to show the recruiter you have the necessary skills for the job.
  • Including a section on your achievements adds a personal touch to a CV and gives recruiters a small insight into your personality and interests.
  • Ensure that you do not include any irrelevant information that takes up unnecessary space on your CV.
  • Avoid spelling errors to show that you have exceptional attention to detail.
  • Use an easy-to-read font and divide up your CV using headings/sub-headings making it easier for the recruiter to follow.

Cover Letter

It is not always necessary to include a cover letter, but it is a nice touch.

  • Tailer your cover letter to the company, mentioning why you would like to work for them. This shows you have taken the time to research the company and not just used a generic cover letter.
  • Refer to the job description, aligning your skills with the required skills for the role.
  • Ensure your cover letter and CV

Interview

Interviews can be daunting for candidates; the best advice is to be prepared ahead of time.

  • Ensure you are neatly and professionally dressed; this goes for both an in-person or online interview.
  • Research the company and be able to discuss why their culture aligns with your own values.
  • Know your CV and be able to discuss all information included.
  • Research basic interview questions, such as strengths, weaknesses and be able to answer these confidently as they are the basics.
  • Have a question prepared to ask the recruiters, this shows you have thought about the job and are interested in knowing more about the role/company.

These are just a few tips offered by our recruiters in FDC, there are plenty of resources online that can help further in your job process.
