FDC Charity Fund: Down Syndrome Cork – FDC Tax Department Ltd

FDC Tax Department Ltd is dedicated to supporting local charity initiatives through the FDC Charity Fund. In 2025, the department decided to allocate some of their funding to Down Syndrome Cork, a charity close to the hearts and lives of several in the organisation.

Down Syndrome Cork is dedicated to improving the quality of life of those with Down Syndrome and offering support to family members. Down Syndrome Cork functions as a volunteer, parent-led organisation, offering services in areas including education, therapies, employment preparation, social clubs, dance, fitness and sports.

Down Syndrome Cork’s mission is to “ensure that our members, from birth throughout their whole life are given every opportunity possible to fulfil their potential and live a happy and productive life.” 

Key Aspects of Their Mission: 

  • Early Intervention & Therapy: The organisation offers services covering speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, physiotherapy and early intervention programmes to support developmental milestones in children up to 12 years old. ​  
  • Education & Life Skills: The charity provides educational support including school readiness camps, teacher education, and sibling support sessions to foster inclusive learning environments.  
  • Field of Dreams: The centre operates an adult training centre focusing on horticulture, catering and life skills, aiming to enhance employment opportunities and independence for adults with Down Syndrome. 
  • Community Engagement: The organisation facilitates social and recreational activities like sports, music and family events to promote community inclusion and well-being.  

Through these comprehensive services, the Down Syndrome Cork strives to create a supportive environment where individuals with Down Syndrome can thrive and actively participate in their communities.
