The FDC Financial Consultant Training Academy is a robust 12 month, earn as you learn, opportunity.

The programme will be a blend of academic tuition which will lead to a Level 7 Professional Diploma in Financial Advice (QFA) and expert on the job training.

While earning a competitive salary, each apprentice will, on a rotational basis, be based in one of FDC’s network of offices and have a dedicated mentor for the duration of the course.

At FDC we build long-term financial planning relationships with our clients. We put them first, organise their finances, and help them along the way, sharing in their triumphs and their hard times.

We will seek to take in new entrants to the financial advisory industry and provide appropriate financial planning training but most of all an appreciation of the FDC Way.

Our objective is to provide practical training and knowledge to all trainees, so they are fully proficient to begin their career within the company

  • This programme will run over an 12 month period.
  • Whilst undertaking this training programme, each apprentice will also complete their QFA exams and will receive full support for this.

  • The programme will be a mixture of classroom based learning and, on the job training where each trainee will, on a rotational basis, be based in one of FDC’s network of offices and have a dedicated mentor for the duration of the course.
  • Trainees will learn technical knowledge, logistical structures and systems as well as behavioural awareness and techniques.
  1. Online Application – Fill in the online application form. Take your time and pay attention to detail.
  2. Video – Shoot a 2-minute video (optional but desirable) telling us why you are the right person for this programme. Showcase your skills, be creative, have fun and show us who you really are and what sets you apart from all the rest. You can draw on experiences from your life, study and career. The potential to produce a totally unique video application is within your control. Between shooting on location and post-production edits, the creative possibilities are endless. Upload your video or provide a link with your application form and submit.
  3. Screening – Our hiring team will review your application and video through a competency based approach and screening process. Remember the application process is your opportunity to show us who you are and how much we need your skills and personality.
  4. Assessment Centre – If you are successful in the screening stage you will be invited to our assessment centre. This is a chance for us to really get to know you and it can be a fun way to interact and engage with your peers.
  5. Congratulations, you’re in – if you are successful in achieving a place in the Academy Programme you should hear from us with an offer.

How long is the programme?

The Financial Consultant Training Programme is an initial 12 month offering, After this initial 12 month period based on performance during the programme you may be offered a permanent Financial Consultant role in one of our offices across Ireland. We’re currently not taking new applications. 

Where will I be based?

The base location for the training programme will be in our new Training Academy Building in Cork City. This is where you will do your initial induction training, training in a class room setting covering exam preparation, skills and systems training and everything you need to become a successful Financial Consultant. You will be required at various intervals to go on office rotation which will require you to travel to an office for a short term rotation shadowing staff in that office. It will be at one of our various locations in our office network.

Is a driving licence required?

Yes, all financial consultant roles within FDC Financial Services require a full, clean driving licence as travel will be required with the office network. If you don’t have a full licence but have applied for your driving test then include this date in your online application.

What does career progression look like?

This really is up to you. Make an impression in your first year and you can be offered a permanent position in an established area. Your career opportunities are limited only by your own ambitions and dedication.

What sort of personal and professional development should I expect?

We look for well rounded, confident, charismatic and passionate personalities. We’ll encourage and develop these attributes and broaden your skills, we will provide you with a strong foundation for a successful career in the Financial Services Industry.

Do I need a specific degree?

We are looking for people with a business acumen who are interested in marketing, sales, project management, or other commercial opportunities. As a result, we will seek candidates with a third-level degree in a relevant discipline (such as business, economics, or financial mathematics), but we will not rule out any other candidates. It’s a definite plus if you can supplement your academic credentials with some real-world experience.

How much will I be paid on the graduate programme?

This is an earn and learn programme. You’ll get a competitive remuneration package, including a laptop, phone, company benefits package. But that’s just the superficial stuff, what you ultimately get is the opportunity to kick-start a lifelong career with FDC Financial Services Ltd.

What happens next?

Once we receive all applications and videos a rigorous consideration process begins. We pride ourselves on the quality of our recruits, so bear with us. You’ve put a lot of time into submitting your application so we like to ensure we put the time into reviewing your application. When we’ve made our decision, successful applicants will be notified and invited to the assessment centre stage.

What will my working hours look like?

You will be working office hours 9.30 to 5.30.

Will I need to relocate?

The 12 month training programme is based in Cork so it is possible that you might need to relocate. Once qualified and offered a permanent position you could be assigned to any of our nationwide offices so again relocation may be a possibility then too.

How many are you recruiting?

There will be 8 to 10 candidates taken on for this training programme.
